#413 The Airbus A380 Airplane Case Study
The Airbus A380 airplane is used as example to explain the complexity of the aircraft-industry market with particular emphasis on the relationship between the ‘product’ and  ‘customer needs.’ The case study highlights how achieving good results in terms of product quality and ultimate customer satisfaction is not a guarantee of success. In addition, the related lessons learned that were encountered by project managers during the aircraft development are discussed.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
(1) describe the complexities of developing a successful, multi-billion-dollar, 40-year, product-market strategy based upon variable customer needs;
(2) explain the complex decision-making challenges that project/programme managers face when managing multi-billion-dollar programmes.
